The Gospel
The word Gospel means "good news." It's good news because it is the very Word of God telling us how we can be saved; how we can have a relationship with Him.
A - God's Purpose for Your Life
Because of God's love, He desires that we have a personal relationship with Him.
2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him."
But we do not experience the life God wants for us automatically. There is a problem.
B - Our Problem is We are Separated from God
God has given us free will and freedom of choice. Unfortunately we have chosen to disobey God and do things our way. That is called sin and is what separates us from God.
Romans 3:12 "There is none who are good; not even one."
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God."
Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus."
What that means is we have a problem that we cannot fix on our own. We need help.
C - God's Solution to Our Problem
God loves us so much that He gave His Son to do what we could not do. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin when He died on the cross. God accepted that sacrifice and now offers us a way to come to Him.
2 Corinthians 5:21 "For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
Romans 5:8 "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."
The truth is God only offers one way back to Him. That is by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. But you must make a choice to believe or not.
D - Your Response
To have that personal relationship with God and to experience the life you were created to live, you must make a choice to accept God's gift of salvation.
Romans 10:9 "Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
John 1:12 "Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."
1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
What will you choose? This is such an important decision, because it will affect you for all eternity.
If you want to be saved and know that you will spend eternity with God in heaven then just talk to God right now and ask Him to save you. Admit to Him that you are a sinner and that you need to be saved. Tell Him you know only Jesus can save you and you accept Jesus' gift of salvation. As best as you know how ask God to save you and tell Him you will follow Him from now on.
